How does the Champions League Swiss format work?

All 36 teams are split into four pots of nine by coefficient ranking. Each team plays eight matches in the league phase — two against opponents from each pot, four at home and four away. After eight matchdays, one combined 36-team table decides who advances: the top 8 go straight to the round of 16, teams 9-24 enter a knockout play-off round, and teams 25-36 are eliminated.

How are ties in the standings broken?

In order: total points, goal difference, goals scored, goals scored away from home, total wins, then away wins. Teams still level after all of those are ranked by a head-to-head mini-league in the real competition.

How qualification works
